Quality 3 Star high security lock with a convenient thumb turn and compact key.

I have GreenteQ Orion locks on the rest of the house and this made an interesting comparison for fitting on the 'internal' door of our conservatory (a place where a thumb turn could not be accessed without breaching the external Orion locks) They have all the usual Kite Marked 3 Star features such as a sacrificial external side that will snap off leaving the lock mechanism intact and secure inside the door if someone tries to snap the lock. Really easy to fit, remove a screw, pop out the old lock (after twisting the key to align it to slide out), pop in the new lock and insert the new screw. The thumb turn has an easy satisfying action and a read mark to indicate it's locked state. Visually the lock looks good and the keys are significantly smaller then the Orion keys. A little more expensive than an equivalent GreenteQ Orion but little in it, my choice would come down to whether I prefer a chunky in your face key or a more dainty one.

Secure Lock, Reliable Performance

I’ve been using this lock for a while now, and it has proven to be a solid addition to my home security. The build quality feels robust, and the anti-snap feature offers peace of mind, although I haven’t needed to test its maximum security capabilities. The thumb turn mechanism is convenient, but I’ve noticed it can be a bit stiff at times, which might be an issue for some users. Installation was straightforward, and overall, it provides a decent level of security for the price. It’s a good choice if you’re looking for reliable but not overly complex security solutions.

Robust, accurately sized cylinders, takes minutes to install into a pre-existing door, no complaints

These XFORT locks are nicely made and arrive packaged inside an appropriately sized cardboard box alongside a set of five keys and a screw for installing it into place. Though, in most cases people will already have the required screw for fixing it in place but even still it’s nice that they’ve included it for those with new doors or have damaged or misplaced the original screw.I like that they’ve got several charts and images showing the correct way to measure your existing cylinder as it’ll help people ensure they’ve got the correctly sized lock for their installation. Generally speaking being a 5mm off on one side or the other isn’t a huge deal but with these having the thumb-turn knob on the internal side the closer you can get the better when it comes to sizing, especially on the internal side.On arrival, I had the lock out of the package and into the intended PVC door in less than five minutes for a basic swap from an ageing existing lock. The process is the same as any other cylinder swap, you just have to undo one screw and then use the existing key or thumb-turn knob to get the lock into the right orientation, and it’ll slide right out of the door. If you’ve got a broken lock that has been damaged and/or tampered with then the process might be a bit more involved, but a basic swap couldn’t be any easier.XFORT isn’t a massive name in the lock industry, but I've seen them around more than a few times in various stores and websites selling security hardware, so they’re not exactly a no-name brand coming out of nowhere. The three star BSI Kitemark also implies that the locks are actually tested and have met certain specifications which is also reassuring and the build quality and the design reflects other 3-star locks I’ve used and installed from other brands. As far as value for money goes the pricing of around £32.99 to £34.99 depending on the length is around the typical asking price for a 3-star cylinder on Amazon at the moment, so the value isn’t terrible at all. Ultimately I can’t fault the lock itself, it feels smooth to lock and unlock and everything looks and feels like it’s made to a good standard throughout. Being able to get a bunch of different configurations including thumb turn and double keyed locks in singles and alike packs is also great and gives you the flexibility to choose what suits your needs best.Happy to recommend if you’re after a good quality source for 3-star BSI cylinders in a variety of form-factors, sizes and various combinations of keyed-alike, thumb turn and double keyed.

Robust Build, Acceptable Machining & Finish, Fail To Transcend Lower-Priced Competitors

I've acquired two of these locks through Vine; one with a silver keyway and this one with brass; otherwise they are identical in specification. My thoughts apply to both; as the two samples seem to be consistent. Some images have been partially blurred in my photos, for obvious reasons.I'm comparing these mostly to the identically-configured "GreenteQ Orion" locks I purchased and fitted earlier this year to another property. At the time I considered these XFORT locks, but opted for the Orions as they were (and still are) over 20% cheaper.Although the construction is similar, these XFORT locks don't quite have the same standard of finish as the latter, which is surprising given the above. The differences are minor; some slightly rough edges/surfaces on the XFORT lock and keys versus the consistent smoothness of the Orions. Stamped/etched markings aren't as sharp and the interior knobs don't quite have the same feel.Don't get me wrong; nothing is bad or even unsatisfactory by any means; but the Orions look and feel like premium locks in every way. These XFORT locks don't quite achieve that; but I can't mark them down as there is nothing wrong with them.I do prefer the keys supplied with the XFORT, as they have plastic over-moulded handles that the others do not. However overall I'd definitely recommend the GreenteQ Orions over these XFORT; even if the pricing were the same.Fitting of these Euro Cylinder locks is, as always, very easy provided you don't get a seized retaining bolt.
