c. Remove the Strike Plate: Unscrew and remove the old strike plate from the door frame.

2. Prepare the Door:
a. Inspect the Existing Holes: Check if the existing holes for the knob spindle and latch are compatible with the new tubular latch and knobs.
b. Adjust Holes if Necessary: If the holes are not the correct size, use a drill to adjust them accordingly. Ensure the hole on the door edge fits the new tubular latch.

3. Install the Tubular Latch:
a. Insert the Latch: Slide the new tubular latch into the hole on the door edge.

c. Secure the Knobs: Attach the knobs to the door with the provided screws, ensuring they are tightened securely and the knobs turn smoothly.

5. Install the Strike Plate:
a. Mark the Strike Plate Position: Close the door and mark the position where the latch bolt meets the door frame.
b. Chisel the Recess: If the existing recess for the strike plate is not suitable, use a chisel to adjust it so the new strike plate sits flush with the frame.
c. Secure the Strike Plate: Align the strike plate with the recess and secure it with the provided screws.

6. Final Checks:
a. Test the Knobs and Latch: Open and close the door to ensure the knobs and latch operate smoothly.
b. Make Adjustments: If necessary, adjust the positioning of the latch or knobs to ensure proper alignment and functionality.

Really nice door knob - but not compatible with older style doors !

I was looking forward to replacing my old style brass door knob which this very bouji matt black option - its sleek, minimalist yet with a nod to the classic handle design (ideal for an old house like mine which is a blend of old and new) - a simple job I thought as they are a similar knob style and it would be a quick changeover - but NO - despite this set coming with everything you need (super value for money) it wasn't compatible with what I can only presume is the imperial version. The bar that goes through and connects the two sides of the knob didn't fit in the existing bar hole, so do watch out for that. I will have to replace the whole lock system in order to get this lovely door knob set in the door - but its that nice that its worth the aggrivation to do that. The painting of the door knob is well done, all excellent quality and you can tell that its a long-lasting sturdy option - I just wanted to flag that its not necessarily a one size fits all option (if you have an old house !!).

Good quality and well finished

This door knob is sturdy and well made. The matt black finish adds a certain style to the door. the springs in the handle are strong enough to give some positive feedback when opening, but not too strong, so it takes little effort to turn the handle. The knob comes with a full set of instructions on how to fit the handle and if replacing an existing handle, it is a simple task of drilling two holes for the screws and everything else slips into place.
