This is a very high security cylinder lock with 6 dimple pins and 5 laser track side pins. The keys cuts for these are made as dimples on it's surface rather than a jagged edge, like we are used to seeing on regular locks. These keys also have something called 5 laser track side pins. I don't know how but apparently the combination of these dimples and laser track side pins are supposed to greatly increase the security of the lock. I can only assume they do as i know very little about these technologies. but what I do know is that it nearly doubles the cost of the keys, and you can't just get them from any old shop, you have to go to a proper locksmiths. They do however come with a card with a QR code so that you can buy them online if you so wish. These locks may be hard to pick but they are an absolute breeze to install. You literally unscrew 1 screw, pop the old barrel out, put the new barrel in, then do the screw back up and you are finished. It couldn't be any easier. These locks do cost more than your regular locks but I'm happy to pay that in the knowledge that these have better security and they have the following crime prevention technologies built into them :Anti-bump timing pin system, Anti-pick pins, hardened steel anti-drill pins, and an anti-snap barrel.I know that anyone selling locks could claim all these features, and that is the reason why I look out for the certifications that all thief-resistant locks should have. This lock has the 3 star British Standards Institute (BSI) Kitemark on the end of the barrel where you would put your key in. It also has the Secured by Design accreditation, which indicate that this lock adheres to the police preferred specifications.
