How to Install
Tools and Materials Needed:
Replacement mortice sashlock
Screwdriver
Chisel

Instructions:
1. Remove the Old bathroom lock:
a. Ensure the door is open.
b. Remove the screws securing the strike plate and knob/lever on the door edge.
c. Carefully unscrew and remove the cover plate on the door face.
d. Gently tap the old bathroom lock out of the door using a hammer and chisel. Be cautious not to damage the surrounding wood.
2. Measure and Prepare:
a. Measure the backset (distance from the edge of the door to the center of the lock) of your old lock.
b. Use this measurement to mark the door edge for the new lock's location. Ensure it aligns with your door handle or knob.
3. Install the New lock:
a. Insert the new mortice lock into the prepared cavity, ensuring the faceplate is flush with the door edge.
b. Secure the bathroom lock in place with the provided screws.
c. Attach the cover plate on the door face, aligning it with the bathroom lock.
d. Secure the strike plate on the door frame, ensuring it lines up with the sashlock latch.
4. Test the Lock:
a. Close the door and test the lock to ensure it functions correctly. It should latch smoothly without sticking.
b. Adjust the strike plate or sashlock positioning if necessary to ensure proper alignment and smooth operation.
5. Finishing Touches (Optional):
a. If the sashlock's faceplate doesn't sit flush with the door edge, you can chisel the recess slightly deeper or use wood filler to level it.
b. Sand any rough edges or surfaces for a neat appearance.
6. Reassemble Door Hardware:
a. Reattach the door handle, knob, or lever using the previously removed screws.
b. Tighten them securely.
