How to Install
Fitting Instructions: Multi-Purpose Door Lock
Disclaimer: These instructions are for fitting or replacing a surface-mounted multi-purpose door lock on wooden doors, gates or cupboards. Ensure the mounting surfaces are clean and in good condition before starting.
What's Included:
• 1 x Multi-purpose door lock
• 1 x Metal keep (sleeve)
• Fixing screws
• Keys
Note: This lock can be installed in two ways:
Using the supplied metal keep.
By drilling a suitable hole for the bolt to slide directly into.
Choose the installation method best suited to your application.
What's Required:
Screwdriver
Pencil
Drill with suitable drill bits
Tape measure or ruler
Installation Steps
1. Choose the Mounting Position:
• Close the door and decide where you would like to fit the lock.
• Ensure there is enough clearance for the bolt to extend fully into the door frame or receiving surface.
• Hold the lock against the door and check that the key can be inserted and turned comfortably.
2. Mark the Lock Position:
• Hold the lock body in your chosen position.
• Using a pencil, mark the fixing holes.
• Extend the bolt and mark where it meets the door frame or receiving surface.
3. Prepare the Bolt Receiver:
If using the supplied metal keep:
• Position the keep over the bolt mark.
• Check that the bolt slides freely into the opening.
• Mark the fixing holes.
If fitting without the keep:
• Drill a hole in the receiving surface where you marked the bolt position.
• Make sure the hole is deep enough for the bolt to extend fully when locked.
4. Drill Pilot Holes:
• Drill pilot holes for the lock body fixings.
• If you're using the supplied keep, drill pilot holes for the keep fixings as well.
5. Secure the Lock:
• Position the lock body on the door.
• Insert the fixing screws and tighten until the lock is secure.
6. Secure the Keep (If Used):
• Position the keep over the pilot holes.
• Secure it using the screws provided.
7. Test the Lock:
• Close the door and slide the bolt into the keep or drilled hole.
• Turn the key to lock the bolt in position.
• Unlock the bolt and check that it slides back smoothly.
• Repeat several times and make any minor adjustments if required.
Final Note:
You've now successfully installed your multi-purpose door lock.
Always ensure the bolt extends fully into the keep or receiving hole before locking with the key. Check all fixings are secure before regular use.
